Saturday was the most productive day I had this weekend because I finally got back on my bike after a 4 day rest. I met up with my Florence by bike crew and we rode 65 miles North East of Florence. I added a picture of the route we took along with the elevation map.
It was a killer route with a different set of picturesque views then the Southern vineyard look I was getting used to. In this region they grow olive trees and its a more mountain range/ forest-y feel. The ride was fun even though I don't understand a majority of the conversations that are going on. But I do love most about the group is that despite the different ability levels there is a no drop policy implemented in their mission statement. At the top of that high mountain range we climbed we waited for eachother, and that is something I truely appreciate.
Besides the long ride I finally found a big inexpensive supermarket here. The store is called Esselunga and they are mostly found on the out skirts of the city, but lucky we only live 5 blocks from one, so Leslie (one of my roommates) and I went out and stocked up on grocheries. That night we made tacos and apple pie.
Sunday my roommate and I participated in the Brest Caner charity run called, Corri la Vita. This was a 5/10k race through out the city. We ran along the Arno river as well as in the Boboli gardens, which are two very scenic area of Florence. Below is a picture of one area of the famous gardens and the starting line of the race.
