It took us about 10 hours to drive from the Quad cities to Ashland Kentucky.
Driving days are fun for the most part because we get to rest, relax and just chat with eachother. We were given two cars for the summer, one big van called Smokey and a truck that pull the trailer (full of tournament inventory) called McGrubber.
When we got to the course we all given our private housing assignments. Shelby and I stayed with a couple that belongs to the course. They were very sweet people who went out of their way to make sure Shelby and I felt at home. Below is a picture of my room! It was so cute.
Setting up for this tournament took longer then most because of all the tournament banners we had to put out. This tournament is the longest existing, and because of the history the event at this course in the middle of a small town we were treated like celebs. Everyday in the paper there was a story about the event, which was crazy to see and be apart of.
Hole No. 15 in my opinion was the prettiest hole at the course.
Our sponsor NRP paid for a group of interns to play in the Junior Am, which is our fundraiser event we put on usually the day before the tournament begins. We played with 2 juniors from the tournament (in the striped short and black shirt).
During course breakdown we load our carts with whatever can fit and bring it back to the trailer. In the picture below Sam (the tournament assistant) is coming in with a packed cart.
Sometimes to make work fun we invent games. In the picture below Lauren and I played a gam against Sam and Shelby to see who could fit more cases of water in their cart (but both people must be able to fit in the cart as well) We fit 27!
The Day off:
Aaron, Josh and I had the day off together. We decided to go visit Marshall University where the movie ‘We are Marshall’ was based. Every week we get one day off, but the tournament chooses when and with who.
